Aliens, a backwater planet, useless tech, an epic journey and...love?
Cord, a former soldier who lost his young family, is hired to ensure a scientist’s sister is transported safely to the Ashula Mountains. Easy money, right? Not when a self-proclaimed governor, the natives and Cord’s old friend are all against him. Add to that his personal demons, alcoholism and an unwanted attraction to an alien...Cord has his hands full.
Hope, however, has a destiny. One that will save everyone from a never-ending winter—but only if she succeeds. Unfortunately for her, the only one who can help is a hairy and uncouth alien male.
There’s never a dull moment in this new frontier where winter is never-ending and tech doesn’t work, but one question remains. Will Cord accept the second chance at love he’s offered or will Hope slip through his fingers in this touching Science Fiction Romance?

I agree with the book blurb, "Never a dull moment" in this story. I really enjoyed it and found it to be a really pretty interesting story. Cord had a hard time since she was the enemy, a Camo( a native of this planet's population) and he had a deep anger against them. He had ample reason to hate them. I liked how in the beginning chapters she thought of him (and other humans) as the alien. It took me a few minutes to catch up with that but when I did it made me smile and think that it was quite a nice touch. True but not often written that way. It was chock full of action and some misunderstandings too. Oh and don't forget the prejudices too. I liked how difficult it was for Hope and Cord to communicate, but they did manage to get their points across at times. Hope had some interesting skills and began to think of Cord as her human. Cord might not have been living a good life lately but he did have a code that he still stood firm on. Yes, this story had enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes. They weren't overwhelming but well blended into the story. I really enjoyed it, so does that make it a 4.5 Stars on Amazon?Product details

His Only Hope edition by Erica Conroy Romance eBooks Reviews
I loved th
This is a new world, could the different species find a way to get past the differences to see the similarities that might save them all. I stayed up most of the night reading, anxious to see how it ended. I would definitely recommend this book to all my friends. I hope there will be more stories about this world.
I received this book free for a honest review.
I liked this novel. It's got the usual Conroy alien flavour and a hefty dose of Hope. Not too long and not too short but just right. I loved the theme of salvation which carried the love story through to its conclusion.
Very interesting story of two people who can't communicate. She only uses telepathy, he only uses speech. She is special, needed to end the everlasting winter, but the humans only believe in science, and despise the "barbarian" aliens. Like Jamestown, the humans push and annihilate to make room for themselves.
I really liked the premise of the story and finished it in a couple of evenings. However, there seemed like something missing I would have preferred that the author expand on the world building. At times, I also felt confused about who was doing/saying/thinking what and what the motives were, particularly during the action scenes. Overall, I enjoyed it enough to want to read another story by the author.
What a wondeful, unique story. So often authors do some quick twist to make a character understand each others language, a device or a character with a gift for languages, and I really appreciated the authors creativity by keeping the language a barrier. The entire story was really approached with a fresh outlook, and I am so excited to read any other books she has written.
This story has an interesting twist. The hero is living on a planet in a settlement where he is considered an alien. The natives have no hair, wear few clothes and communicate with each other mentally. None of them speak. It certainly holds your interest especially when you find that he has a mission to get one of them, a female Hope, to a mountain so she can perform some acts to end winter. Hope is also a healer, one of the last of her kind. I would recommend this book for a different read.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The loss suffered by Cord makes him give up on life and he is slowly killing himself when Hope enters his life and despite not being able to communicate and a deep-seated hostility between the two species they journey together towards Hope's destiny and Cord's healing. Learning the truth of what really happened to his family helps Cord overcome the hatred he feels for Hope's people. Colourful characters and a wonderful love story add up to a thoroughly readable and enjoyable tale. Would love to read about Leaf's journey navigating between the two species.
